Pain Care
For People in Pain
Yoga can be very helpful in relieving chronic pain. It can help people who have many pain-related conditions, such as: arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraine, low back pain, and many other types of chronic pain conditions. One of the great things about yoga is that anyone can do it. Yoga can be done from a chair, so you don’t even need to be mobile to experience the benefits of yoga. Relieve pain and manage stress through yoga therapy from the comfort of your own home.
A few thoughts on Breath Awareness, Breath Regulation and Pain Relief…
A person typically takes between 17,000 and 30,000 breaths per day, every day. Most of the time we are not consciously thinking about our breath. It just happens. With chronic pain,…
When we bring our attention to our breath for even a few minutes a day, there are huge health benefits, which are documented by a growing amount of research evidence.:
Reduce depression.
Better regulate your body's reaction to stress and fatigue.
More efficient immune function.
Improve overall well-being.
Reduce Stress levels in your body
Lower your heart rate and blood pressure
Improve diabetic symptoms.
Better manage chronic pain.
Pausing for a 2-minute breathing break is also a great way to enjoy a quick refresher in the midst of a hectic day.
‘Breath awareness’ practices simply means that we pay attention to our breath. We make no effort to control or change it. Just simply notice and observe. With practice, we can become aware of more subtle sensations and patterns, and gain deeper levels of discernment, which assists in guiding in ways to respond throughout the day.
‘Breath regulation’ practices refer to the process of intentionally changing the breath, such as adding length to the breath, pausing between inhales and exhales, and directing the breath.. With practice, we gain the ability to regulate and influence our breath patterns, which can then influence how we respond to stress and challenging situations, and how we perceive chronic pain.
Being aware of our breath keeps us present.
The best thing is breath practices can be done anywhere, any time and in any space.
